Sandiaga to take firm action against tourists caught performing lewd act in Bali

Jakarta, IO – Indonesian social media recently erupted over a viral footage showing a group of foreign nationals performing lewd act at a villa in Ubud, Bali.

The video went viral after it was first posted by the famous Balinese fashion designer Niluh Putu Ary Pertami Djelantik, popularly known as Niluh Djelantik.

There was a scene of seemingly unconscious women being touched by a group of men in what looks like a ritual. This has offended cultural sensitivity in Bali.

In response, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno strongly condemned the act and vowed to take firm action.

“Thank you, Mbok Niluh, who always takes quick action. We will act decisively!” Sandiaga Uno commented on the Instagram post.

Meanwhile, Bali Police spokesperson Jansen Avitus Panjaitan explained that based on investigation, one of the culprits was suspected to be a foreigner from India named Satyarthiprateek, believed to be member of a heretical sect.

The police believed that the sect’s activities were carried out by frequently moving to different locations without the owner’s knowledge.

Separately, Denpasar Immigration director Tedy Riyandi said the agency has identified one of the foreign nationals in the video after a database check. But they are no longer in Indonesian territory.

“The person concerned left Indonesia on April 22,” revealed Tedy. (un)
