Jakarta, IO – Rihana and Rihani who committed iPhone pre-order fraud were arrested after being on the run for a month. They were nabbed at M Town Gading Serpong apartment, Tangerang, Tuesday (4/7).
In a viral footage, they were seen smiling when being questioned by the investigators, per CNBCIndonesia, Wed (5/7).
When investigators asked how they shopped for daily necessities such as food, one of them answered casually, “downstairs at the supermarket.”
Their arrest was carried out by the Special Team of Jakarta Metro Police. Deputy Director of General Crime Investigation Imam Yulisdiyanto personally led the operation.
The twins have conned a total Rp35 billion out of unsuspecting buyers. They also embezzled rental cars.

The modus operandi was offering cheap iPhones for resale through a pre-order scheme.
In other words, the reseller must first pay for the order, then the goods will be sent within a certain period of time. However, many victims admit that they have yet to receive the goods promised after paying the money. (un)
