Jakarta, IO – This year’s August 17 independence anniversary celebration will be the last to be held in Jakarta. This is because next year’s 79th edition will be officially conducted in the new administrative capital of Indonesia, Nusantara.

Nusantara Capital City (IKN) said that it would carry out the construction in a timely manner so that the Independence Day celebration can begin to be held in IKN, East Kalimantan, in 2024, per Katadata, Monday (31/7).

“Next year will mark the starting point for the gradual relocation of the national capital from Jakarta to Nusantara,” said the IKN Authority deputy for funding and investment Agung Wicaksono.

Meanwhile, the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry said the new capital city construction progress has gone according to plan and has now reached 36 percent. The new presidential palace itself has reached 23 percent.
