Jakarta, IO – A passenger gave birth to a daughter during her recent Jakarta-Surabaya Pelita Air flight. Her perilous birthgiving was assisted by a fellow passenger, a laywoman from Malang. According to Detik Travel, Friday (30/06/2023), the helpful lady was makeup artist Yulia Maria (46).
When the unfortunate passenger showed signs of labor, the stewardess on duty immediately called for a medical worker among the other passengers to assist. However, no medico was taking the same flight that day. Hearing that unfortunate new, Yulia immediately made her way to the seat in the back where the poor mother was already laid across on her back.
“I quickly went to the back seats. That’s when I noticed that the stewardesses already took off the curtain that separated the passenger section from their quarters, and the lady already laid down on her back and prepared,” she said.

When Yuli approached the mother, her water already broke and the baby has exited unassisted. Therefore, she simply helped the stewardesses with comforting the mother and cleaning her and her baby up. She then cut the baby’s umbilical cord, then helped the stewardesses cover the baby with clothing and prayer wear belonging to them.
On arrival at Juanda airport, mother and baby were immediately transported to Mitra Keluarga Hospital in Waru. They both survived and now thrived. (bp)
