“I condemn in the strongest terms the incidents of this afternoon. The police have already firmly intervened. I therefore advise against fans coming to the city centre. The police are doing all they can to maintain public order,” tweeted Brussels mayor Philippe Close.

Morocco’s stunning victory against Belgium was one of the biggest upsets in Qatar World Cup considering that the latter is currently ranked second in FIFA rankings, while the former is at 22nd place.

According to ESPN, the Moroccan national team became the fifth African team to beat a top team. A win over Belgium increased Morocco’s chances of qualifying for the knockout stage as they are now in the second place of Group F with four points. Belgium, on the other hand, is in third place. (rr)
