In response, Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) chief Penny K Lukito said her agency is conducting a sampling test to ensure product safety. “With regard to Mie Sedaap, its products sold in the Indonesian market are safe,” said Penny.

Wings Group Indonesia, the parent company of Mie Sedaap denied the presence of ethylene oxide that may be used as preservatives.

“Mie Sedaap ascertains that no ethylene oxide (EtO) is used and our products have met food safety standards so it is safe for consumption,” company spokesperson Sheila Kansil told Detik.
