Rebranding Indonesia’s Bioenergy: A Call for a Just Energy Transition Partnership

The establishment of JET-P can provide a necessary platform to drive the rebranding of Indonesia’s bioenergy sector. JET-P, as a collaborative initiative, can bring together policy makers, industry stakeholders, academia and civil society to strategize and implement sustainable bioenergy solutions.

With expertise and network orientation, JET-P can accelerate access to global best practices, innovative financing mechanisms, technical assistance, and should be able to accelerate bioenergy transition in Indonesia.

However, the success of JETP financing for bioenergy in Indonesia will depend on several factors. First, the Indonesian government should create an enabling policy environment for bioenergy projects, including enabling regulations and investment-based incentives.

Second, there must be a strong pipeline of high-quality bioenergy projects in Indonesia ready to receive financing. Finally, there should be a supply of qualified experts who can manage bioenergy projects.
