Jakarta, IO – M Iman Mahlil Lubis, the perp who swapped QRIS barcode in charity boxes at 38 mosques in Jakarta and South Tangerang has been arrested. Jakarta Metropolitan Police crime investigation division chief Auliansyah Lubis said Iman was nabbed when he was attaching a fake QRIS on the charity boxes which earned him a cool Rp13 million per week, reported Detik, Wednesday (12/4).

Auliansyah revealed that Iman has carried out his action from April 1. Based on his confession, he specifically targeted big mosques and prayer rooms in busy shopping centers, including Pondok Indah Mall and Grand Indonesia.

Iman registered three of his personal accounts through the Youtap and PulsaPay applications to get a QRIS code. Then the code is printed and attached in those locations. He is revealed to be a former bank employee.

“He attached his self-created QRIS labels to existing ones that belongs to the mosques, by placing them in certain distance from one wall to another,” said Auliansyah. (un)
