Jakarta, IO – The government is targeting the granting of land certificates to be completed by 2025. This was conveyed by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in Grobogan regency, Central Java, Tuesday (23/1).

Jokowi said that the government has so far issued 110 million land certificates. This means that there are around 16 million remaining, per Bisnis.

Jokowi explained that process was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He also hopes that the land certificate issue will be completed according to schedule so that land disputes will not occur again in the future.

One major cause of land disputes is the slow process of certificate issuance because the National Land Agency (BPN) is only able to issue 500,000 certificates per year while there is a demand for 126 million certificates.

“If we calculate it, if you want to get a certificate it will take 160 years,” explained Jokowi.

Thus, Jokowi encouraged the acceleration of land certificate issuance to more than 10 million per year.

“In 2015, I gave a directive to the head of BPN to hit the 5 million target and it was possible. In 2016, I asked for 7 million, and now more than 10 million per year,” explained Jokowi. (un)
