Jakarta, IO – President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who currently serves as the defense minister, stated that he is ready to return to his normal activities after successfully undergoing surgery for a chronic leg injury.
“God willing, when I am in better health moving forward, I will be even more ready to serve and serve the country and people of Indonesia. Thank you to the entire community for their prayers and support,” said Prabowo in a post on social media platform Instagram, Sunday (30/6).
Prabowo revealed that the cause of the long-term injury was two parachuting accidents when he was still active in the armed service.
“As many people already know, I had two parachuting accidents while serving with the TNI [Indonesian Armed Forces] in the 1980s on my left leg. I am still affected by this injury,” he explained.
Prabowo also expressed his gratitude to Allah and thanked the team of doctors who treated him, namely Brig. Gen. (Ret.) dr. Robert Hutauruk, Colonel Dr. Sunaryo, Dr. Siska Widayati, assisted by Dr. Thomas and all the nurses and medical personnel at the Great General Soedirman National Defense Central Hospital (RSPPN), Bintaro, South Jakarta.
This hospital is a new hospital that was inaugurated in February by the President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Prabowo himself. The hospital is under the purview of the Defense Ministry (Kemhan), along with 25 other military hospitals.

“I am aware and understand that the medical procedure I am undergoing is full of risks and my life is at stake. I assure myself that all of this is in the interest of the nation. I am also confident that the team of doctors and all medical personnel who handle [the surgery] are reliable and professional,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to Jokowi who had provided support during the surgical operation. “Thank you to the President of the Republic of Indonesia @jokowi who has provided moral support and prayers.”
