Revealed: More than 1,000 individuals in DPR and DPRD involved in online gambling


Jakarta, IO – The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) reported that there are more than 1,000 individuals in the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD) are gambling online.

The data was conveyed by PPATK head Ivan Yustiavandana in a working meeting with the House Committee III, Wednesday (26/6). On that occasion, Ivan replied to a question from Committee III deputy chair Habiburokhman, per CNN Indonesia, Wed (26/6).

Furthermore, Ivan explained from the data, the number of transactions carried out by government officials reached Rp25 billion from 63,000 accounts.

“The transactions range from hundreds to billions of rupiah. That’s the deposit. So if we look at the turnover, it tops hundreds of billions,” he said.

Currently, the government has formed an Online Gambling Eradication Task Force. According to the Task Force data, West Java is the province with the largest number of online gamblers, namely 535,644 gamblers with Rp3.8 trillion worth of transactions.

Coming second is Jakarta with 238,568 gamblers and Rp2.3 trillion worth of transactions. Third place is Central Java with 201,963 gamblers and Rp1.3 trillion worth of transactions.

East Java is next with 135,227 gamblers and Rp1.051 trillion worth of transactions. This is followed by Banten with 150,302 gamblers and Rp1.022 trillion worth of transactions. (bp)
