Poverty rate in Jakarta on the rise

Jakarta, IO – Residents conducting their activities in a densely-populated area in Pademangan, Jakarta, Tuesday, (29/11).

Statistics Indonesia’s (BPS) Jakarta office announced that the number of poor people in the capital has increased 3,750 to 502,040 (4.69 percent of total Jakarta population). Head of BPS Jakarta Anggoro Dwitjahyono said this was caused by decline in purchasing power due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. (Muhammad Hidayat)
