Plumpang Inferno: Fuel depot fire survivor finds his house burnt to the ground after getting back from work

He directed Erick Thohir and Heru Budi Hartono to find an immediate solution to the problem. The fuel depot is situated in the middle of a densely populated area and should not be inhabited. President Jokowi gave two options, either to relocate the depot or the residents living in its vicinity.

According to the latest from BNPB, the fire has displaced 297 residents. They are now being sheltered at North Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) office and Rasella RPTRA.

The massive blaze killed 16 people and injured 37 who are currently being treated at burn units in a number of hospitals: 1 at RSCM, 25 at RSPP, 2 at Pelabuhan Hospital, 1 at Tugu Hospital, 2 at Koja Hospital, 2 at Yarsi Hospital, 1 at Firdaus Hospital, 2 at Koja Hospital, 1 at Pertamina Jaya Hospital and 1 at Pekerja Hospital.

To take care of affected residents, BNPB has provided two tents measuring 6x12m, 25 tents measuring 4x6m, 1,000 food packages, 1,500 blankets and 1,500 mattresses. It has also continued to coordinate with the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency, PMI, TNI, Polri and other relevant agencies to provide necessary support for emergency response and recovery. (rr)
