Liga 1 resumes after being suspended following deadly stadium riot

Jakarta, IO – After the riot at Kanjuruhan Stadium which killed 135 spectators, the Indonesian Liga 1 is allowed to be held again. The permit was obtained on Friday (3/12).

The police gave permission on the condition that the competition was held under a “bubble” or centralized system. PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the organizer chose Central Java and Yogyakarta as the venue for the tournament, reported detik, Monday (4/12).

PT LIB also released the schedule for week 12-17, which mark the end of the first season. With a centralized system, the schedule will be made tighter and will end on December 24.

There are five stadiums that will be used until week 17, namely Jatidiri (Semarang), Manahan (Solo), Moch. Soebroto (Magelang), Maguwoharjo (Sleman) and Sultan Agung (Bantul).

The opening three matches, held simultaneously at 3:30 p.m., will see clashes between Bhayangkara FC vs PSS Sleman, Madura United vs PSIS Semarang, PSM Makassar vs Persikabo 1973; while at 6:60 p.m. Persita Tangerang will face off against Bali United. (rr)
