Jakarta, IO – Jakarta Provincial Administration has slashed the fare for public transportation such as the MRT, LRT to Transjakarta (TJ) to Rp1 effective today, Thursday (22/6).
This initiative was taken to celebrate of Jakarta’s 496th anniversary. Jakarta Transportation Agency head Syafrin Liputo the tarif will take effect from midnight to 23.59 WIB, per CNNIndonesia.
The integration of public transportation would also be carried out to avoid congestion due to the overcrowding of passengers. Syafrin explained that his agency would carry out traffic diversion using the one-way scheme.
“The one-way system will be implemented in seven roads. In addition, traffic lights on 20 intersections will be optimized,” he explained.

Separately, Jakarta interim governor Heru Budi Hartono said the city will also take steps to reduce congestion and traffic jams. He said he has prepared a number of measures through coordination with relevant agencies. (un)
