Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian Hospital in Gaza (RSI) has finally stopped operating due to absence of medical supplies amid influx of patients caused by Israeli attacks in the area, said RSI director Atef al-Kahlout.

“We can no longer offer any medical services. We can’t admit any patients,” said al-Kahlout, per CNBC Indonesia, Friday (17/11).

According to him, all hospitals in Gaza City and the northern part have stopped operating. RSI is located near the Jabalia Refugee Camp – the largest in Gaza – and has treated hundreds of refugees in the area.

He noted that currently there are 500 patients at RSI, even though the capacity is only for 140 patients. Some of the patients required emergency surgical treatment.

“We received injured people from Wadi Gaza to Beit Hanoon. Some have been here for 10 days,” he said.

Since the conflict between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7, a number of hospitals in the strip have become the targets of Israeli attacks.

According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), the Israeli military accused hospitals in Gaza, including RSI, of being used as underground command node by Hamas. Palestinian officials and the Indonesian group that funded the hospital construction have categorically denied this claim. (un)
