Jakarta, IO – Indonesia has a treasure trove of gold with a total potential of up to 2 billion tons at the Onto mine, Hu’u district, Dompu regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Who discovered it?

It was found by PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM) which has hold the mining concession in the area since 1998, reported CNBC Indonesia on Wednesday (28/12).

PT STM president director Bede Evans explained the company is majority owned by Vale S.A. (80 percent) through Eastern Star Resources Pty Ltd, with the remaining shares owned by PT Antam Tbk.

“Currently our engineering team is continuing to explore various options on how the Hu’u project can be developed into a gold or copper mine in the future,” he said.
