Improving employee productivity through better healthcare and welfare

Jakarta, IO – Employee health and welfare strongly determine the progress of a business. The 2022-2023 Global Welfare Survey performed by global business consultant Aon, in cooperation with market research company Ipsos, shows that the higher employee health and welfare are addressed, the better their productivity is and the more sustainable their working life. Such employees will be able to adapt faster, be readier to shoulder responsibilities, and they will feel a sense of ownership of their employing organizations.

As employee welfare is directly proportional to productivity, improving the factors that affect welfare will increase corporate performance by an estimated 11% to 55%. In the survey performed on 1,100 companies in 16 countries, including Indonesia, 90% of companies agree that solid healthcare programs represent the best strategy to improve employee welfare.

One of the forms of health investment of the company is by providing a medical check-up program for its employees. With mandatory medical check-up regulations in place, we can catch employee health problems earlier, before they become severe, saving the company steep medical treatment costs later. The medical check-up results will also improve employee awareness and encourage staff to start implementing a healthier lifestyle. Therefore, corporate medical check-up programs are useful and beneficial for both employers and employees.

“We aware that the full support of our employees is a primary support of the Company’s growth. Therefore, ensuring that all of our employees’ health needs covered is a priority for us, and encourages the Company to provide medical check-up facilities for our employees. We understand that employee health concerns are one of the elements of a conducive work environment. This is why we collaborate with the Good Doctor app in our routine medical checkup initiative – in order to ensure that our employees are constantly covered and that their good health status is constantly maintained. Consequently, all employees can work peacefully and maintain their productivity,” declared Philippe Auberger, Lazada Indonesia Chief Logistics Officer, in an interview in Jakarta, Wednesday (14/6/2023).

Such routine checkups include overall physical health checkup; eye, blood, urine, checkups; electrocardiograms (EKG), audiometry or hearing tests, and spirometry tests to assess employee lung condition in the Company’s Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Cirebon, and Cilegon branches. At the same event, dr. Adhiatma Gunawan, Chief Medical Officer PT Good Doctor Technology Indonesia, declared that perfect health means that both the person’s mind and body are healthy. Again, he declares that improving employee health will support the Company by helping it keep their best talents.

“Previously, we cooperated with multiple partners in our Covid-19 vaccination programs, both primary and booster shot programs; employee mental health programs; and even special unlimited telemedicine service packages for our Lazada Logistics courier partners. In our medical check-up program, our team of doctors will recommend both curative and preventive methods, ones that will impede illness from getting more severe, when necessary,” he promised. (est)
