Jakarta, IO – Six Indonesians (three men and three women aged 26-35) were arrested by Hong Kong police on Friday (15/3) local time over robbery of luxury watches worth Rp12 billion, per Detikcom, Wed (20/3).

Before the arrest, the police received a report about three robbers armed with knives and sledgehammers who came to a watch shop on Foo Ming Street on February 28.

The perpetrators reportedly stole 25 watches then fled the scene in a car. Police unit found the car and arrested six suspects.

Three of the suspects were charged with robbery, while the other three were detained for interrogation. Chief Inspector Lo Ka-chun from the regional crime unit said all the suspects arrested were Indonesian citizens.

Lo said this was the first case of robbery committed by Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong. Several of the suspects were residents who had overstayed their visa.

“I want to emphasize that robbery is a serious crime and it does not matter the citizenship or immigration status of the robbers,” Lo said. “The police will use all means to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.
