Jakarta, IO – After establishing 27 national holidays and joint leave in 2024, the government also plans to change the nomenclature of ‘Isa Al-Masih’ to ‘Yesus Kristus’ in national holidays.

This was conveyed by Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy in a press conference, per Detikcom, Tuesday (12/9).

“There will be a change in nomenclature based on a proposal from the Religious Affairs Ministry regarding the terminology,” said Muhadjir.

He said the Religious Affairs Ministry would propose to President Joko Widodo to issue a presidential regulation (Perpres).  There are a number of national holidays that use ‘Isa Al-Masih’, namely the death and ascension of Jesus Christ.
