GOT the Beat consists of seven girl idols from several SM Entertainment girls’ groups. BoA, Girls Generation’s Taeyeon and Hyeoyeon, Red Velvet’s Seulgi and Wendy, and Aespa’s Karina and Winter. SM Entertainment has combined the top talents of their female idols from four female K-pop groups into one super girls’ group. By putting the seven girl idols into one group, GOT The Beat definitely put a new color in the Hallyu wave by focusing on upbeat music and intense stage acts.

SM Entertainment is always ahead in innovating and presenting musical collaborations within its idols. This combination is expected to add excitement to K-pop music fans. Another similar top idol project by SM Entertainment is SuperM, combining Lee Soo Man’s SM Entertainment male idols. The seven members of SuperM are Taemin SHINee, EXO’s Kai and Baekhyun, and the four members of NCT: Taeyong, Ten, Lucas and Mark. SuperM had its first debut at the end of 2019, releasing a mini album titled SuperM and a single, Jopping. SuperM’s debut album ranked first on the 2022 Billboard chart and made them the first Asian artist to top the US album chart with only a debut release. SuperM’s achievement is expected to carve the path for GOT the Beat to also sit at the top of the international music chart. (yas)
