Jakarta, IO – The National Police’s Densus 88 Anti-terror squad arrested 40 terrorist suspects from the homegrown Jamaah Anshor Daulah (JAD) network led by AU. They were alleged to be plotting to disrupt the 2024 elections.
“23 people arrested in the West Java, 11 in Jakarta, 6 in Central Sulawesi,” said Densus 88 spokesperson Aswin Siregar, per CNN Indonesia, Tuesday (31/10).
Anwar explained that this group had planned to sow chaos in the elections. They had also provided support for the Islamic State (ISIS).
“For them, elections is part of democracy, which they consider as a vice that violates the Islamic law,” he added.
“They planned to carry out attacks on security forces during the election stages,” he added.

Densus 88 also confiscated an AK-47 firearm with ammunition, magazine, PCP used for air rifle practice and a number of substances that could be used to make explosives.
“These include sulfur and Himalayan salt, which is usually used to replace HCL,” he explained. (bp)
