Crop failure due to long drought, chili price soars

Market vendor serves buyer of bird's eye chili at Senen Market, Jakarta, Wed (8/11).  In the last few days, chili price in a number of areas has spiked. Based on food price monitoring data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas), the price of curly red chili today rose 1.22 percent to Rp59,850 from Rp30,000 per kilogram while bird's eye chili went up by 1.61 percent to Rp71,810 to Rp90,000 per kilogram from Rp45,000.
