Jakarta, IO – A number of young people’s communities have recently held a “Power Up” march before the office of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) in Jakarta, demanding that presidential and vice presidential candidates running in the 2024 elections declare their strong commitment to addressing the climate crisis and energy transition to curb global temperature rise by refusing campaign funds and excluding campaign teams from the fossil fuel-related industries.

The demo also urged the General Election Commission (KPU) to highlight the climate crisis and environmental issues during the 2024 general election to convince the people to elect presidential and vice presidential candidates who prioritize energy transition policies.

The “Power Up” action is a global movement carried out in various countries, through civil organizations that urge governments in many countries to divert funds and political influence from polluting energy companies that have been ruining the Earth and causing climate crises.
