Jakarta, IO – Indonesia’s tourism performance index has increased significantly. The country now ranks 22nd, out of 119 countries, outpacing neighbouring countries like Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand, according to the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) released by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Previously, Indonesia was ranked 32nd. “Indonesia was able to boost its ranking from position 32nd to position 22nd. Thus, we should not feel inferior to other countries with regard to tourism,” said Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga, per Kemenparekraf.go.id, Wed (22/5).

According to Sandiaga, this proves that the programs and policies rolled out by his ministry have been on the right track because they have positively impacted the tourism sector and the creative economy, created jobs and stimulated economic recovery.

“Despite the budget constraint, we can innovate, adapt and collaborate. I hope we can continue to encourage this spirit of adaptation, innovation and collaboration,” he added. (bp)
