Karawang, IO – Residents crossed a damaged road caused by beach erosion in Cemara Jaya Village, Karawang, West Java, (22/8).
Having a beachfront house is a dream for many but not for the residents of Cemara Jaya village it felt like a misfortune. The village with a population of more than 5,000 people is 40 kilometers from the city of Karawang.
Once known as a beach popular with tourists, the residents are now living in constant fear of their houses being inundated by tidal floods and coastal erosion that often cut off road access. In addition to storm surge, the community is also being impacted by strong wind.

Every effort is being made by the village administration and villagers to make this village a tourist spot again including setting up stone wall as barricade.
