Jakarta, IO – Indonesia is considered a success story in the handling of Covid-19 pandemic. For more than two years, all elements have collaborated and managed to keep inflation under control at 5.42 percent, economic growth at 5.72 percent, and daily caseload below 5,000, says Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto on Tuesday (20/12).
In his view, various policies have been implemented by the central government and regional administrations in containing Covid-19 quickly and effectively as stated in Presidential Regulation 82/2022. The government, for example, formed the Committee for Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) tasked with balancing health and economy.
Indonesia is also able to turn the crisis into opportunity by building a vaccine industry that the nation can be proud of. Hartanto said through various research endeavours, Indonesia is finally able to produce its own vaccine named IndoVac.
“With this capability, we are certainly prepared to face future pandemic,” he said.
