Jakarta, IO – Sad news today: badminton lovers worldwide can no longer enjoy Greysia Polii’s action on the court. The Indonesian Women’s Doubles athlete has confirmed her intention to retire.

Greysia’s Testimonial Day will be held on the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters’ Finals at the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, 12 June 2022. The statement is timed at 09.00 a.m. WIB before the Final match starts, because foreign players would still be in Jakarta to participate in the Indonesia Open the following week. Greysia’s Farewell Party will also include entertainment such as a performance by Indonesian singer Raisa.

“Thank you, Greysia, for your fight and dedication. PBSI appreciates you. Ups and downs, joys and miseries, she has gone through all that. One of the things that makes her special is that she can partner up with anyone,” said Alex Tirta, Executive Chairman of the Badminton Association of Indonesia (Persatuan Bulu Tangkis Seluruh Indonesia – “PBSI”)’s Central Management Board.

“I am grateful to all my coaches and all PBSI staff who helped me chase my dreams. Afterwards, it is my turn to release and commend all of my fellow retiring athletes,” Greysia said during a press conference held in Senayan, Jakarta, last Friday, 3 June. “Praise the Lord, during my 19 years in the National Centralized Practice (Pemusatan Latihan Nasional – “Pelatnas”) scheme, all the management and staff through the years helped me and other players show our best abilities.”
