Jakarta, IO – Solo mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka has confirmed that he will not join the Central Java gubernatorial race, in response to questions from Solo residents as well as poll results by a number of survey institutions showing that he is a potential successor to incumbent Ganjar Pranowo.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you don’t need to be anxious, you don’t need to be confused with media reports. Pak Teguh [Solo deputy mayor] and I will continue to focus on Solo to complete our mandate,” said Gibran on Wednesday (20/4).

Suwardi, an academic at Slamet Riyadi University (Unisri), believed it is reasonable for the people of Solo to be worried, considering that the current public satisfaction index (IKM) for the first year of Gibran-Teguh administration is quite high, at 79.3. Suwardi said that Gibran’s personal leadership style is also well received by the community.
