Jakarta, IO – Workers converting a conventional Vespa scooter into an electric version at the Elder Garage workshop, Smesco Building, Jakarta. The whole process takes about 3 to 4 hours.
The costs range from Rp25 million to Rp35 million depending on the components used. The converted electric motor is usually equipped with a 350 watt battery. With a charging time of approximately 2 hours, it can cover a range of up to 60km.

The electric motorbike conversion program is one of the government’s efforts to increase the use of eco-friendly vehicles in Indonesia. To speed up this initiative, the government has provide incentive worth Rp7 million for each 50,000 motorcycles in 2023.
