Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) confirmed that it will not invite President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who is technically still its cadre, to the party’s fifth National Working Meeting (Rakernas) in Ancol, Jakarta, on May 24-26.

Rakernas steering committee chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat said his party saw that President Jokowi “has been busy and is keeping himself busy”. Djarot said that PDI-P will also not invite Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, per CNN Indonesia, Fri (17/5).

Djarot said the Rakernas agenda this time is only for internal members as the party will discuss a number of strategic directions, including its political stance in the next government and the strategy to win the 2024 regional elections.

“It’s better to wait and see what PDI-P’s stance is. What surprises will emerge at the Rakernas,” he told the press. The theme for this Rakernas is “Satyam Eva Jayate” which means truth will prevail. It is the last round before the party’s congress in 2025. (un)
