Indonesia Gets 221,000 Haj Quota in 2025

Jakarta, IO – Indonesia has been given a quota to send 221,000 pilgrims for the 2025 haj season. This was confirmed by the Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas after he attended the thanksgiving prayer service held by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Haj and Umra in Mecca.

“I received information from the Deputy Minister for Haj Affairs Ayed Al-Ghuwaynem,” said Yaqut, per, Thu (20/6).

He also appreciated the Saudi Arabia authorities for announcing the quota earlier, so that the preparation process for holding the next haj pilgrimage could be carried out more quickly.

“We also appreciate the firmness of the Saudi authorities in implementing the rules regarding haj and non-haj visas,” he said.

Yaqut assessed that this year’s haj was successful based on a number of indicators. One of them is the quota for 213,320 regular haj pilgrims was optimally met, with only 45 pilgrims unable to depart because the visa application had been closed.

“This is the highest quota absorption in more than 10 years,” he said.

The service has also improved, both Mecca and Medina. Yaqut said Indonesian pilgrims could get catering services, transportation, accommodation, protection and guidance on how to perform the circumambulation.

“In fact, Indonesia provides the largest single source of pilgrims for the haj. This is clearly not an easy task,” said Yaqut. (un)
