Jakarta, IO – Mario Dandy was sentenced to 12 years in prison by the South Jakarta District Court after going through a fairly long trial process. He was found guilty of serious assault against David Ozora.
The verdict was in accordance with the demand of the public prosecutor. The son of Rafael Alun Trisambodo was also required to pay Rp25 billion in restitution to his victim David. The Rubicon jeep he used was also confiscated to pay the restitution, per Kompas, Thursday (7/9).
Previously, the prosecutor demanded that Mario and his friend Shane pay restitution of around Rp120 billion on Tuesday (15/8). If he failed to do so, he would be sentenced to seven years in prison.
Meanwhile, Shane was sentenced to five years in prison. In this case, the two defendants were deemed guilty of violating Article 355 (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 (1) subsidiary Article 353 (2) in conjunction with Article 55 (1) and/or Article 76c in conjunction with Article 50 (2) of Law 35/2014 on Child Protection.

The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) said the restitution takes into account the cost of hospital care for David and the loss of income for his parents as they had to attend to their son. According to LPSK deputy chair Susilaningtyas, the costs are estimated to be more than Rp100 billion. (bp)
