Jakarta, IO – Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, tested the Jakarta-Bandung Express Train in a ride from Halim Station, Jakarta, to Tegalluar Station, Bandung, Thursday (22/06/2023).

“I have tested the train in a journey from Jakarta to Bandung. It has a maximum speed of 385 km/hours, with an average speed of 355 (km/) and it ran properly,” Luhut declared after he finished the test run.

Luhut strongly believes that the Jakarta-Bandung Express Train project can be completed on time, and that it will be inaugurated on 18 August 2023 as planned. “This has been a long-term program, with many parties cooperating here to complete it. To repeat, we expect timely completion of the project. I will tell you that the journey from Jakarta to Padalarang took us 20 minutes, and the total journey all the way to here (Tegalluar) took 45 minutes,” he informed.

Luhut’s future projection target is for the Express Train to operate 68 trips a day. In order to achieve this target, we will cooperate with China in order to ensure that we can produce the materials for the train domestically.
