Jakarta, IO – Director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, Atef al-Kahlout, said the hospital is at risk of stopping operations due to shortage of fuel. As the electricity supply was cut off, it has been relying on generators.

“Today, Thursday, November 9, there are 1,100 liters of diesel fuel left and this is only enough for one day,” said al-Kahlout via the X/Twitter account of MER-C Indonesia.

“Indonesian Hospital will stop operating completely tomorrow if there is no diesel fuel to power the generator,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said that around 18 of the total 35 hospitals in the Gaza Strip had stopped functioning due to ongoing bombardment.

Earlier, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) military spokesman Daniel Hagari accused the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza of being used as a facility to support Hamas. He raised accusation that the underground floor of the hospital was being used by Hamas as its command center.

In response, Edy Wahyudi, the site manager of the hospital construction strongly denied the allegation, saying that every inch and square of the hospital was built for humanitarian purposes.

“The Indonesian Hospital in Gaza was built from donations from the Indonesian people from many ethnic and religious groups from Sabang to Merauke, the majority of whom are middle to lower class people,” said Edy.

“I repreat, the IDF accusation against the Indonesian Hospital is not true, because we ourselves oversaw its construction from scratch and to this day we are still carrying out maintenance work,” he explained. (bp)
