Tangerang, IO – A number of workers are making incense, locally known as ‘hio’ in the Kosambi area, Tangerang regency, Banten (3/2).

Incense is an important part of the worship rituals of Chinese society. In their beliefs, the number of incenses burned during worship ranges from 1 to 9. However, it is not uncommon for tens or even hundreds of incenses to be lit up in one series of worship.

As the Chinese New Year, which this year falls on February 10, is just around the corner, demand for incense has also increased. Usually, this home industry can produce up to 1,000 incense sticks a day. One of the makers, Aceng (63), said that this year orders rose to around 20,000 from various regions in Indonesia, especially Kalimantan.
