Govt to accelerates National Data Center Development in Cikarang

Jakarta, IO – The government is working to complete the construction of the National Data Center (PDN) in Cikarang, West Java, by August 2024. This target has been accelerated from originally October 2024.

PDN is currently being built at the Greenland International Industrial Center (GIIC). The government hopes that Indonesia will officially have these sophisticated information technology facilities when the country celebrates its independence day on August 17, per Katadata, Wed (7/2).

“The plan is for it to be inaugurated by the president on independence day,” said Communications and Information Ministry (Kominfo) Government Information Application Services acting director Aris Kurniawan.

The vital infrastructure was built on five hectares of land with a building area of ​​almost 16,000 square meters funded by a loan of 164.6 million Euros or around Rp2.7 trillion.

PDN Cikarang will also have a 25,000 core processor, 200 terabit memory, a maximum storage capacity of 40 petabytes and an electricity capacity of 20 mega watts which can be increased to 80 mega watts. It will also be equipped with internal and external security systems.

Apart from Cikarang, the government plans to build three other PDN centers, namely in Batam, and PDN in the Nusantara Capital District (IKN), East Kalimantan.

PDN development aims to consolidate government data and interoperability. So far, ministries/agencies manage public data through 2,700 data centers and servers spread across various regions.

The government hopes that PDN will foster efficient data center management which will support improved e-government services. (un)
