Jakarta, IO – Taiwan’s Eighth Army Corps spokesperson Lou Woei-jye said the island’s military will hold an exercise this week simulating defense against a Chinese invasion, in response to Beijing’s fresh announcement on Monday (8/8) that it will continue to hold military drills around Taiwan.

“We will practice counter moves against simulated enemy attacks on Taiwan,” said Lou Woei-jye, as reported by detik, Tuesday (9/8).

Lou said the exercise would include the deployment of hundreds of troops and about 40 howitzers.

Taiwan regularly holds military exercises simulating a Chinese invasion. Last month, it carried out drills to repulse seaborne attacks in a joint intercept operation as part of its largest annual drill.
