Jakarta, IO – The Timau National Observatory located at the foothill of Mount Timau, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) will finally be completed soon. This space observation facility will be the largest in Southeast Asia.

“Currently, the installation of the dome has been completed,” said the Aviation and Space Research Organization of the National Research and Innovation Agency (ORPA-BRIN) via its official Instagram handle @lapan_ri, Monday (12/6).

Inside the dome, a 3.8-meter-long telescope would be placed. Interestingly, the telescope is said to be similar in design to the Seimei telescope at Kyoto University’s Okayama Observatory, Japan.

Various telescope components such as lens and drive frames have also arrived at the location. The lens will soon be calibrated by the Indonesian and Japanese teams.
