Positive cases of monkey pox in Jakarta now 30

Jakarta, IO – There are six additional positive cases of monkey pox in Jakarta, bringing the total to 30, according to Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes), per Detikcom, Wed (8/11).

Dinkes head of surveillance, epidemiology and immunization Ngabila Salama said that the monkey pox sufferers were all men aged 25-50 and they showed mild symptoms. Meanwhile, the proportion of people who tested positive for monkey pox out of those who undertook the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test was 25 percent.

Ngabila said there are now seven people who are suspected of contracting monkey pox. Meanwhile, 92 others have shown negative results.

“The total recipients of the (monkey pox) vaccine reached 495 people, 100 percent of the target,” she said.

Dinkes Jakarta will continue to monitor cases of monkey pox, especially in places with high mobility and activity to ensure that all health facilities, from community health centers to regional general hospitals (RSUD) are ready to treat monkey pox patients. (bp)
