Friendly meeting to build a hometown with Sambas regent H. Satono

Jakarta, IO – Sambas regent H. Satono held a friendly meeting (silaturahmi) with Sambas migrant community comprising investors, entrepreneurs and figures from the region. The event, attended by hundreds of people, was held at the Empurau Restaurant, West Jakarta, Thursday (22/2).

In his remarks, H. Satono said that the meeting with Sambas regency stakeholders not only aims to strengtheng the ties of brotherhood between Sambas migrants, especially in Jakarta, but also to invite them to contribute in the development of their hometown in West Kalimantan.

“In today’s meeting, we also invited investors to invest in Sambas regency, to build together for the progress of Indonesia,” said Satono, who was born in Senturang on April 24, 1980.

He also emphasized the importance for the people of Sambas origin wherever they are to always remember their hometown to visit their birthplace and to develop it together.

“We want the multi-ethnic and multi-religious community of Sambas regency to continue to live in harmony and peace. And this must always be maintained,” said Satono.

He also hoped that the people of Sambas regency everywhere can act as tourism ambassadors for the regency by introducing its customs, arts, culture, culinary delights and natural beauty so that outsiders are also interested in visiting for the purpose of leisure or business, in particular investment.

There are many Sambas people who have succeeded economically after migrating to big cities, such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang and others. They are expected not to forget their hometown. “Their visits could be a driving force for the economy in Sambas regency,” said Satono.

On this occasion, he also held a book auction to raise funds that will be used for philanthropic activities to help some of the less fortunate people in the regency.

Sambas, located in West Kalimantan province, has an area of ​​6,395.70 sq km or 639,570 ha (4.36 percent of the area of ​​West Kalimantan). The regency has 19 sub-districts which were formed through administrative proliferation in 2000. Previously, it encompassed Singkawang City and Bengkayang regency. (des)
