Jakarta, IO – It is not yet certain if Jakarta is going to hold the Formula E 2024 racing event because the election stages are still not completed.
Jakarta EPrix 2023 director Ivan Cahya Permana explained that the schedule for Formula E in Jakarta will be held again in 2025, per Katadata, Thu (29/2).
“It was postponed to next year, so this year we won’t participate because of the election,” said Ivan.
The decision was taken before the election with Formula E Operation (FEO), which owns the race license.
“We will abide by the existing contract, especially regarding the commitment fee,” said Ivan.
The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) previously announced that the 2024 Formula E event, which was originally scheduled for June 8, would most likely be postponed in Jakarta. The FIA said that Jakarta has been removed from the race calendar for the 10th season of Formula E.
The FIA is worried that the ongoing election agenda will have an impact on logistics delivery for racing purposes. In response, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) as the organizer also proposed that the 2024 Formula E racing event in Jakarta be postponed. (un)
