With an estimated up to 50 employees per unit, including unit managers, administrative staff, chefs, kitchen staff, and delivery personnel, the program is expected to create 2.4 million new job opportunities, beyond the economic benefits derived from supply procurement.

To ensure the smooth nationwide implementation in the future, the first strategic step is to conduct a pilot project. The primary goal is to understand the dynamics of the operation and detail the implementation process, making this initiative a crucial initial step. Through this pilot project, we aim to identify potential challenges and comprehensively evaluate the program’s performance. With a deep understanding gained from the pilot results, we will be able to optimize strategies, refine procedures, and ensure that the nationwide rollout of the Free Nutritious Meals program operates efficiently and delivers maximum positive impact.

The ongoing pilot project in Sukabumi, managed by the Indonesia Food Security Review (IFSR) as the sole official partner of UN WFP School Meals Coalitions and supported by the Prabowo Subianto Foundation, showcases a groundbreaking model. With a local workforce of 50 individuals dedicated to serving 3,500 children, this initiative exemplifies the remarkable economic multiplier effect achievable when the Free Nutritious Meals program is expanded nationwide.

Notably, the program employs local communities as chefs, dishwashers, and food delivery personnel, involving up to 50 people. The food commodities are sourced from local farmers, livestock breeders, and small-scale businesses within the surrounding community.

This holistic approach, addressing nutrition, education, and socio-economic development, positions the Free Nutritious Meals and Free Nutrition Assistance programs as flagship initiatives under the upcoming presidency of Prabowo Gibran. The overarching goal is to foster a more inclusive, prosperous, and well-educated Indonesia.

It is crucial to note that lessons learned from this pilot project will be thoroughly evaluated and studied to refine the program when scaled up to a national level. Additionally, the pilot initiative will be expanded to other regions, enriching the pool of knowledge and technical expertise related to the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals program in the future.

The Free Nutritious Meals and Free Nutrition Assistance programs spearheaded by President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka stand as a beacon of hope and progress for Indonesia’s future generations. Rooted in a comprehensive and visionary approach, these initiatives address not only the immediate concerns of malnutrition but also lay the foundation for a more inclusive, prosperous, and well-educated nation.

The Free Nutritious Meals and Free Nutrition Assistance programs align with the global goal of school feeding programs set forth by initiatives like the School Meals Coalitions. These programs aim to ensure that every child has access to a healthy, nutritious meal by 2030, thereby contributing to SDG 2: Zero Hunger. This objective not only addresses immediate nutritional needs but also supports broader aims, including SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 4: Quality Education. Nations such as Indonesia are actively working towards this goal, collaborating with international organizations like UNWFP to leverage global expertise and resources. By aligning efforts with the broader aim of eradicating hunger and malnutrition as part of the SDGs, Indonesia and other nations are making strides toward a healthier and more sustainable future.

The success of similar global initiatives, such as the ‘School Meal’ program supported by the United Nations World Food Programme, provides a robust framework for Indonesia’s endeavors. Collaborating with international organizations like UN-WFP, Indonesia is poised to leverage global expertise and references, turning this vision into a reality.

Beyond the immediate impact on health and nutrition, the programs promise remarkable economic benefits, with an estimated creation of 2.4 million new job opportunities. By emphasizing local sourcing and engaging small-scale agricultural, fishing, and livestock ventures, the initiatives not only combat malnutrition but also foster community development and food diversification.

In this spirit of progress and collaboration, we extend an invitation to nations around the world to join hands in supporting Indonesia’s bold endeavor. By contributing expertise, resources, and encouragement, we can collectively uplift the well-being of future generations and contribute to the global effort to eradicate hunger and malnutrition.

Let us stand united in fostering a world where every child has access to nutritious meals, every mother receives essential nutrition assistance, and every nation shares in the responsibility of nurturing a healthier, more prosperous future. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the wellbeing of generations to come, embodying the spirit of a truly interconnected and compassionate global community.
