Canadian politicians’ fixation on ideological conflicts prevents them from recognizing the increasing pluralism of the world. Embracing a multipolar foreign policy is vital for sustaining global peace, development, and addressing challenges like environmental crises and poverty.

By letting go of their Cold War mentality, Canadian politicians would find it easier to view China objectively and develop mutually-beneficial relations, ones that serve the interests of both nations’ peoples.

In summary, while the Canadian ambassador’s emphasis on the complex and multi-faceted nature of China-Canada relations is valid, it remains difficult to accept the denial of Chinese interference in Canadian elections. Canada’s pursuit of an independent diplomatic policy and a more objective view of China would contribute to stronger bilateral ties.

It is worth noting that international relations are influenced by geopolitical dynamics, power struggles, and the pursuit of national interests. Different countries may have divergent perspectives and strategies to advance their interests. The Cold War mentality mentioned in the context of Canadian diplomacy refers to a mindset rooted in ideological divisions and competition between blocs. Overcoming such a mentality and embracing a more pluralistic and multipolar approach is often seen as beneficial for promoting global peace and development.

Ultimately, the resolution of issues between China and Canada requires dialogue, understanding, and the pursuit of common interests. Constructive engagement, respect for sovereignty, and an open exchange of views can contribute to fostering better bilateral relations and addressing shared challenges on the international stage.
