Access to Merak-Baluran Beach temporarily closed for restoration

Jakarta, IO – The beach, which is part of the Baluran National Park in Situbondo regency, East Java, has been temporarily closed to tourists since Thursday (15/2) to allow it to heal.

Baluran National Park spokesperson Joko Mulyono explained that this measure is usually carried out on a periodic basis, per Kompas, Tue (20/2).

“We often do it alternatively at different access routes,” said Joko. According to him, the closure would take place for about a week. This means that the entrance to the Baluran National Park area will reopen on Wednesday (21/2).

“Because there are not as many tourist visitors who come through the main access post of Watunumpuk. We will reopen in on February 21,” said Joko.

There are a number of tourist destinations that visitors can enjoy around Baluran, including scenic spots Bilik Beach and Sijile Beach known for its stunning white sand. (un)
