Jakarta, IO – Nine used train carriages in the train cemetery around Purwakarta Station, West Java were burnt on Thursday (31/8). The fire was reportedly seen around 11:32am WIB.
The fire is thought to have originated from a spark during metal cutting activities on a train carriage using a cutting tool, per CNNIndonesia.
“It is suspected that a spark fell on the train’s flammable waste material and caused the fire to spread,” said Yanto, a supervisor from PT Barata Indonesia who witnessed the incident.

Eight platoons of personnel and six fire engines were dispatched to the location. At around 2pm WIB the fire was extinguished.
There were no casualties. The extent of the losses is still being calculated. (at)
