Jakarta, IO – A 6.2-magnitude jolted Garut regency on Saturday (27/4) evening and caused damage to hospitals and dozens of houses in its wake.
As of Sunday (29/4), 2pm WIB, the number of damaged properties has increased from 27 to 110 units. Most of them were public facilities, such as places of worship, schools, offices and health care facilities.
According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesperson Abdul Muhari, three houses suffer heavy damage, 21 moderately damaged, and 34 slightly damaged. The strong earthquake also caused damage in a number of regions including Bandung regency, Sukabumi regency, and Tasikmalaya regency and municipality.

So far, it has impacted 75 households, with eight people reportedly injured. West Java Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) in conjunction with the local BPBD in the affected regions continue to assess the damage and help the survivors.
After the assessment is finished, BPBD will begin reconstruction phase to repair public facilities and affected residents’ property. (un)
