Jakarta, IO – The management of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza (RSI) responded to the accusation by the Israeli military that a number of hospitals, including RSI, has been used as bases by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Sarbini Abdul Murad, chairman of MER-C Indonesia, the organization that manages RSI, unequivocally denied the accusation, saying that RSI was professionally built to met the medical needs of the Gaza residents, per CNNIndonesia, Wednesday (8/11).

“Israel’s accusation is just a pretext for it to carry out an attack on RSI,” he countered. He said the underground facility at the hospital which was suspected to be a Hamas command center was actually a place to fuel for power generators, not a rocket launch site. Sarbini also appealed to the international community to protect RSI from Israeli brutal attacks.

“About 450,000 Gazaresidents depend on RSI for their medical needs,” stressed Sarbini.

Since the conflict between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7, Tel Aviv has always said that the Palestinian armed group had built a base under a hospital which prompted it to strike the civilian infrastructure.

Hamas also denied Israel’s accusation. They said that Israel’s chief military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari has been spreading lies. To date, the number of casualties resulting from the Israel-Hamas war has reached tens of thousands. (un)
