Indonesia advances to Round 3 of FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers

Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian national team managed to qualify for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers after emerging victorious in Group F with a win over the Philippines at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Tuesday (11/6).

Indonesia managed to finish in runner-up position by collecting 10 points from six matches, per CNN Indonesia, Wed (12/6). Playing the Philippines, Indonesia managed to score first in the 32nd minute thanks to Thom Haye’s beautiful goal from outside the penalty box.

Indonesia widened its lead in the 56th minute through Rizky Ridho’s header following Nathan Tjoe-A-On’s free kick. The third round will see 18 countries divided into three groups of six teams.

The top two teams in each group will automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, the third and fourth ranked teams in each group will advance to the fourth round. The victory over the Philippines also earned Indonesia a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup. (un)
