Security chief minister to take 3 law enforcement measures to eradicate online gambling


Jakarta, IO –  The Online Gambling Task Force will soon carry out three major operations to eradicate online gambling, said the Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Hadi Tjahjanto, who heads the task force, per, Fri (21/6).

Hadi explained that the three operations consist of freezing accounts, actions against trading of accounts, and measures against online game transactions through convenient stores.

Based on data from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), as many as 4,000 to 5,000 suspicious accounts that had been blocked as part of the enforcement actions by the authorities.

PPATK would immediately report the suspicious account to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (Bareskrim Polri). If within 30 days there is no response from the account owner, the funds will be confiscated and become state assets based on District Court ruling.

“Police will be able to summon the account owner and carry out an in-depth investigation and process it legally,” he added. 

Hadi explained that as trading of accounts mostly occurs between perpetrators and village folks, the government will enlist the help of the village supervisory non-commissioned officers (Babinsa) and the police’s security and public order officers (Bhabinkamtibmas). (un)
